Sugar In The Raw is a Turbinado Sugar made exclusively from sugarcane. Juice is extracted from the sugarcane and then crystallized through evaporation to maintain its natural molasses, golden color and distinctive flavor. The resulting crystals are rinsed with a very small amount of water to remove just enough stickiness to make the product free-flowing.

Turbinado Sugar is minimally processed and refined. Its brown crystals come from the natural molasses in the sugar cane. The natural Turbinado sugar contains no gluten, nor does it come into contact with glutinous products such as wheat during its manufacture. It is safe for people with celiac disease. The premium tropical Turbinado sugar is made from all natural cane.

The distinctive color and taste of this Turbinado Sugar comes from the sugarcane molasses flavor that occurs in the crystals. By contrast, white sugar is obtained by refining the sugarcane crystals to remove the molasses (and with that, trace nutrients).
